JRP Architects was approached to design a concept for The South Jersey Aquatic Center, a facility intended to train and educate individuals in the techniques of competitive swimming, and to provide outstanding indoor facilities for training in water safety and swimming skills. The center plan would include opportunities for swim practices, competitive events, lectures and seminars, and therapy. The architectural design of the center includes a primary long course Olympic pool, a short course and therapy pool, and a third pool for teaching and recreation purposes. Locker rooms, a swim lesson office, a pool operations office, a child-care/party room, and an aquatic therapy and rehabilitation center complete the first floor. The second-floor plan houses the spectator viewing gallery, sport-fitness and training apparatus, and auxiliary lavatories and lockers. The design includes operational offices for managers, coaches and personal, along with additional meeting rooms on the third floor.
